It's not just hyperbole. It's insulting hyperbole designed to put people on edge- which is fine, if you want everyone in a discussion on edge. Some will be on edge because they just love seeing the other side labeled negatively, some will be on edge because of the perceived global insult to a particular POV, and some will just be on edge because they realize discussion is degrading.

How about we just deal with the issues, rather than try to make a syndrome out of something? I feel the same way about the folks who attack Clinton. It would be unproductive in the extreme to label them- it would simply make them more defensive, and less willing to examine their POV. That's what attacking people does to them- and labeling people that way is most certainly an attack.

How about Political Irrationality Syndrome since frothing at the mouth about politicians on the other side is a staple in American politics?

It might even be good enough to get a nationally syndicated talk show, LOL.

As I recall, both LBJ and Nixon inspired similar reactions among many. So did JFK where I grew up, among many.

Dressing it up as something new that Bush suffers from is disingenuous.
