The horrified visitors are getting a small view into what the wild is truly like.

Last night on Animal Planet they showed a 400 pound alligator in a sink hole at a Florida Zoo. The zoo had put him in there to attract visitors, but he quickly doubled in size and became aggressive to the monkeys and chimpanzees that were the main attraction. They were afraid they would lose some to the gator.

The sinkhole had caves along the edge and the water was opaque, so it was a bit dicy getting the big guy out.
