What about the price point(s)? I was hoping they might introduce a base model ar $899. Didn't think the least expensive would be up to $1099. Thought they would surely keep one model "below a thousand." Is the price going to be an inhibiting factor?

Lizzie,

IMO Apple lowered the bar again by offering Intel graphics in the new Macbooks. Nickel and diming when Apple products are supposed to be top of any line just doesn't cut it.

Dell LatitudeTM $599

Dell InspironTM $499

vs.

MacBook $1099

===========

The Inspiron (Insipidon? Sounds dinosaur like.) is ONE HALF the price of the cheapest MacBook. A $600 difference is considerable.

Yeah I know the MacBook is superior. But I'm looking at it like a windows user. (That's why I figured they'd nix the iSight. To at least compete.) Maybe the price will fall but as we all know a certain someone at Apple is sometimes reluctant to admit...

They really should sell a limited option stripped down model.

.

As opposed to the pro models.

===========

MacBookPro $1,999.00

vs.

Dell PrecisionTM $1,699

===========

The pro models are a little more competitive when you consider the iSight is worth > $100 that puts Apple's low end pro models within $200.
