Odd to me how you can find the overwhelming evidence for human self awareness to be suspect but have no problem making such a claim for another species.

That's not where I am.

There may be a test that demonstrates how a dog is self aware but I haven't heard about it.

What is the difference between self-awareness and Cogito, ergo sum? Are they equivalent. Does one prove the existance of the other? If I think am I self-aware and if I am self-aware do I think?

The test gauges self-awareness by determining whether an animal can recognize its own reflection in a mirror as an image of itself. This is accomplished by surreptitiously marking the animal with an odourless dye, and observing whether the animal reacts in a manner consistent with it being aware that the dye is located on its own body.

A new robot can recognize the difference between a mirror image of itself and another robot that looks just like it.
