I hate to use this term "knowledge worker" but that is the market I want apple to penetrate which is not a consumer but a business purchase for the marketing types and others who have the freedom to veer outside of IT control. If apple wants that market then they have an incentive to price upmarket. There is no incentive to offer cheap computers to this demographic, and if you have cheap computers, those are the ones that sell and you lose your upscale sale.

We'll find out soon enough if apple sells 1.24mm macs this quarter, if they do, then this pricing was right.

They can always lower prices after all, or come out with a single core laptop for $899. later on.
