"Big problems" is an interesting euphemism. They killed more people than the Holocaust, but I suppose the Nazi regime wasn't a horrible evil in your opinion, it was just a "big problem".


Besides, I don't think that the news of massacres like that got around in the 1930's.


The first man made famine started in 1921. ( ukrweekly.com ) Other abuses started as soon as the Soviet regime started. I don't think you need a bunch of high speed internet connections and blogs and video, to get the news about these things out before McCarthy's time. The 2nd larger man made famine was in the early 30s ( infoukes.com )
