Re: One thing that hasn't changed though is all the problems INTC still has. Nothing has changed there except it now looks like the K8L will allow AMD to reinvigorate its' top dog status next year.

Another thing that hasn't changed is that AMD will be fighting NGA without K8L for almost a year.

A little perspective would be helpful. It might help if the board was a little less detail oriented and a little more concerned with the big picture. Too many posters with the vision of Mr. Magoo.

The reason that the K8L news is interesting is precisely because it has some details. We already knew K8L existed and was supposed to be fast. If AMD had just made a few vague remarks about higher performance or regaining performance/watt leadership it would not have been very interesting at all.

Really, nothing has changed from yesterday. The extent of damage that Core 2 can do to AMD is dependent on the rate at which Intel can ramp it.

So let's check the total stock + orders of Core Duo chips from Reseller Mike's data, compared to Netburst 65nm and Netburst 90nm chips. Didn't see Celeron M's in his lists. All Celerons are ignored.

CORE 65NM PENTIUM M NETBURST 65NM NETBURST 90NM
DATE STOCK ORDER STOCK ORDER STOCK ORDER STOCK ORDER
05/15/06 694 45 1334 10 5513 3085 45316 -135
05/08/06 682 40 1381 0 4998 5480 45906 9
04/10/06 508 485 2455 325 7822 1960 48854 -622
Not completely sure what to make of this, except that everything is dwarfed by the inventory of Netburst 90nm chips and Yonah chips are still only 1/3 of the non-Celeron notebook chips, and don't seem to be rising.
