Peter, You are correct. Our parents didn't buy my brother's story for a nanosecond.

Yes, Brother did manage to get off a couple of batches of apricot brandy (jams and jellies perhaps?) before our parents found the still in his room. Our parents discovered this contraband because the still had become infested with fruit flies which were taking up lodging throughout the house.

As a compromise, I (well over 21 years of age at the time) took possession of the still.

No, I never did make booze or anything else in it. It was merely a conversation piece on my hearth for many years.

Epilogue: I sold the still at a garage sale about 20 years ago. - Holly
