Intel Woodcrest to ship in June, Conroe July, Merom August

theinquirer.net

Otellini also talked about Merom, Conroe and Woodcrest, and said that the firm is moving rapidly to a next generation design which will include a threefold performance per watt boost.

Merom in August will coincide with the natural notebook refresh.

He said Intel will transform Xeon DP product line to Woodcrest to the tune of 75 per cent by Q4.

Yes, I agree with bobs10 that we have no idea when there will be significant volume of NGA parts available. Even if Intel can produce them, they won't sell through to consumers. Tell me why HP will want to buy NGA chips for media center PCs when they have a huge inventory of Netburst media center PCs -- that cost them $800 to make -- sitting on the shelf. That inventory will never get sold unless they charge a premium for the NGA PC's. And then they will be considerably more expensive than the Athlon 64 X2 sitting right next to it at Best Buy.

So not only does Intel have to produce them in volume, the OEM's have to get rid of their Intel inventory before they BUY them in volume.
