Hi Paul, you're right about the inverse correlation in the past. Now we have the additional prediction difficulty in that we no longer have V-shaped cycles. Instead, since 2001, we have a rising chip sales trend with higher highs and higher lows. If you want to refresh your memory, please go to briefcase.yahoo.com

it shows ww chip sales and SEMI equipment bookings together since 1995.

In addition we have to deal with the fact that today program trading is more than half of all trading. I understand they go for small gains, often.
