DC Brisbane (65nm) in December of 06. I take it it is a shrink.

BTW, AMD has no single core 65nm AM2 Athlon processors on its roadmap at this time.

Very impressive if true. Anything under 200mm would be good. It appears AMD will have L2 cache density close to that of Intel CPUs.

AMD's footprint in all segments of the market combined with their enormous capacity coming on line is a game changer. Couple that with a die size efficient architecture- is a force multiplier.

Plus, with the demise of the MHz wars, CPU's stuck at the same frequencies for multiple quarters etc- this market is not what is was during the K6 and early K7 days.

I think the Doug is giving too much weight to Intel having a ~20% performance lead in some apps.

For ~80% of the market- the top two CPU bins are a non-issue. Consider HP that does not even sell the FX (AFAIK) or any top line MT Turions and still commands #1 customer status at AMD- by far.

Turion 64 X2's introduced today!

What's a "32-bit only" Yonah, anyway? ;-)
