amd.com

Specs are: 512K x 2 L2, except for TL-50, which is 256K x 2, and also 1.6GHz

TL-60 35W 2.0 GHz 2 x 512 KB $354
TL-56 33W 1.8 GHz 2 x 512 KB $263
TL-52 31W 1.6 GHz 2 x 512 KB $220
TL-50 31W 1.6 GHz 2 x 256 KB $184

Core Duo:

T2700 (2M L2 cache 2.33 GHz 667 MHz FSB 65nm) ???$637??? (Inq)
T2600 (2M L2 cache 2.16 GHz 667 MHz FSB 65nm) $637 --> $422 (Inq)
T2500 (2M L2 cache 2 GHz 667 MHz FSB 65nm) $423 --> $295 (Inq)
T2400 (2M L2 cache 1.83 GHz 667 MHz FSB 65nm) $294 --> $240 (Inq)
T2300 (2M L2 cache 1.66 GHz 667 MHz FSB 65nm) $241 --> $210 (Inq)

So Turion X2 and Core Duo are priced about the same (Core Duo a bit cheaper at a given speed), it's just that Core Duo has two extra speedgrades on the top end that are more expensive, while lacking 64b.

Looks like NEC is the first of the Intel-only Japanese shops to cave in and defy Intel.

Mmm, I must have missed something. What makes you think so?

Regards,

Rink

"Looks like NEC is the first of the Intel-only Japanese shops to cave in and defy Intel."

Also, MSI now on board in a full fedged manner and, most importantly, From the AMD PR:

"AMD dual-core technology will help provide HP consumer and commercial notebook customers the freedom to work and play virtually anytime, anywhere," said Ted Clark, senior vice president and general manager, Notebook Global Business Unit, HP.

Commercial space from day one!" (thanks:two_center)

" Another good thing is that only the two cheapest Intel Core Duo's are lower in price than the top-of-the-line Turion 64 X2."

Must be only 1/2 the performance. You know, too much 64-bitness slowing it down ;-)

Kidding aside, if half the price of INTC's top line now, and still 90nm, what happens to INTC's plum margins in this hitherto virtually uncontested 60M units/annum, when AMD delivers much more power savings and in 5:1 volume ratios at 65nm?

Aside 2: Gonna be a while before INTC recaptures those 60% plus profit margins methinks!
