Their strategies of using highly emotional wedge issues makes bipartisanship impossible. Excellent point. If we could play campaign advisor for our mythical candidate, one of the key points in the stump speech would be: "My fellow Americans, we have had decades of vicious partisan conflict in our politics and our government. What did it get us? Did it balance our budgets and secure our children's future? Did it secure for us a safer position in the international arena? Did it unite our citizenry behind the noble goals that our country was founded to achieve? "I submit it did not. Ladies and gentlemen, it is time for a change, a real change that reaches out to all of our citizens and not just a narrow, untenable, temporary majority."
