why not just invade? Because you will get civil war. Long and bloody. They may want to come here to get monet, but many Nexicans have no findness at all for Americans. They consider we "stole" the American southwest from them and their illegal entry is a "reconquista". The Mexican gov't is rather more socialized than ours. PEMEX is the only oil company and is owned by the gov't. Electricity generation and distribution is a gov;t operation. They have socialized medicine. The railroads are owned by the gov't. The land laws set up socialized farming. Corn and tortillas prices are controlled by the gov't. And many Mexicans prefer it that way. Wealth is suspect (as it is to our left, except, of course, their own rich). I'd be interested in hearing from anyone that has a good idea about how Mexico can correct hundreds of years of nepotism and corruption. It certainly won't get there by continuing the present system. One of the best things they could do (ands won't) is open up their country to foreigners. Let them come and work and establish businesses. Itmay take a few hundred years, but they will learn capitalism from it and start applying it. Then they can get out of their mess. They won't by denying new people and methods entry.
