etch, you're right >the analysts are trying to artificially make the stock price cyclical.
If necessary they will create their own cycle

etch,

I agree 100% with that assessment. I cannot find one other sector which has not meaningfully rallied in the last six years.....well, maybe airlines, but there is a justification.

AMAT gave the street everything they wanted to hear last night when they came out and said 2H06 will be strong, and yet the stock is still falling flat.

Absolutely no question in my mind that half-truths and lies are being spun about this sector, and the cycles behind it.

Brian

Wall Street analysts seem uniformly negative regarding AMAT's near term prospects. That's a good sign. They're probably telling their clients to accumulate. After all, AMAT's been in a bearish trend for 3 months now (sold off from 21$ after last Q) and the price is good. It's not as if the stock is overbought!!

But the cyclical story continues to be all that matters. Growth rate decelerating is all they can think of... What did they want? 30% order growth Q over Q? That's BS, especially coming off the strong numbers that were posted. What is important is that growth continues at a very healthy pace, and that valuation is contracted to a ridiculous level now (p.e. around 12-15 going forward).
