TG, I agree with you that Intel Q3 will suck. That's why they aren't revealing the restructuring details until Q2 is over. They can hide how bad Q3 will be in a huge Q3 restructuring charge.

Yeah, I hadn't thought the whole thing through, but that would seem to be the most likely solution. Given the way Wall Street tends to forgive one time problems it actually might not hurt INTC too much. I guess it will sort of depend on how Otellini sells the bitter pill. I would expect a lot of analysts to be paying very close attention to the reductions to see if the correlate better with reality than last quarters INTC announcements about market share losses.

In any case the market will probably be a lot less forgiving about any future restructuring comments from INTC so this one had better do the trick. I had thought that this first restructuring by INTC would be a light once-over. I'm now starting to change my mind. The adjustments are probably going to be a lot more severe. I wonder how well INTC will hold up under the strain? Things like restructurings have a way of distracting companies from their goals, something INTC can ill afford.
