re: ANY US president would have reacted to 9/11 by going after bin Laden.

With what? Special forces and covert ops, like Stephanopolous was suggesting?

With focus, not another (neo) agenda. Remember Rumsfeld saying there were not any "good targets" in Afghanistan? REALITY: bin Laden did it, NOT Saddam Hussein. We spent out resources and got the wrong guy. For God sakes why can't you see that simple fact? If we got bin Laden and 10,000 US troops got killed in the process, you wouldn't hear a peep from me.

re: Gore would have hesitated before taking out the Taliban.

Who knows, certainly not you. The Taliban didn't fly planes into the WTC. Maybe Gore would have talked them into turning over bin Laden and his ilk, and they would all be dead by now... and Saddam Hussein would still be a broken down dictator... the result of the actions of a few good US Presidents.

Gore would have hesitated before taking out the Taliban.

The Taliban were not the problem.
I don't think Gore would have let the Taliban stand in the way of taking out Al Qaeda, but he would not have lost focus about who was the real problem.
