Stratex Networks swings to a profit, names new CEO

Stratex Networks Inc. posted a profit of $3.3 million, or 3 cents a share, on Thursday and named Thomas H. Waechter president and chief executive.

The company posted a loss of $13.3 million, or 14 cents a share, a year ago.

Revenue was $64 million, compared with $41.1 million a year ago.

Waechter succeeds Chuck Kissner, who continues as executive chairman for the San Jose-based wireless transmission company (NASDAQ:STXN - News).

Waechter, an independent director of Stratex Networks since December, is a technology veteran with more than 20 years experience.

Looking ahead, the company expects earnings in the first quarter of fiscal 2007 to range between 2 cents and 4 cents a share on revenue ranging between $62 million and $66 million.
