Sure, in the US that is. Just like one can buy "Oktoberfestbeer" all year around - in the USA only.

But the Bavarian starkbeers (Dominator, Optinator and many more all named "Xyyy-nator") are only produced and sold locally during the "Starkbierzeit", which is between February and Easter during the traditional Christian "Ramadan" time.

These very heavy and dark beers by the way were originally invented by the Paulaner monastery and produced as "fluid nutrition" during the fasting time.

The story goes that the monks transported a large keg over the Alps and down to Rome to get the papal approval for their nutrition replacement.

Having lost most of its strength during the lengthy transportation same was granted by the pope...

You can imagine, those monks then living from heavy and strong beer only...constantly roasted for 8 weeks or so... No wonder that many Harry Baers of Bavaria were attracted by the possibility of a quiet life in such seclusion ;)

Right now it's "Maibock" time though. Dominated by HB (The Hofbräuhaus).

Austrian beer? Gimme a break...
