Bush has the CIA in tatters even with big increases in funding and that's not Clinton or Carter's fault. For the first time all the retiring CIA operatives seem to be more than willing to criticize the administration and call them liars. I never saw that with Clinton and Carter, so I guess you're wrong.

The fault lies with Bush-Cheney who have tried to use the CIA as a political tool, and have tried to force it to lie. That's why the CIA is now taking revenge. Also, Cheney's outing of Plame was just plain treason.

Maybe you're talking about the far rightwing part of the intelligence world, the types you love who probably helped assasinate the Kennedys. Yes, those types were marginalized during Carter's years. And for good reason. They waged a war in Vietnam called Phoenix which assasinated untold amounts of people, many of them innocent. And they abused our Special Forces to do so. Shame on them.

>>>CIA was greatly weakened under Carter and Clinton. Absolute historical fact.<<<

So under your principle the Mahdi Army should be strengthened?

The CIA killed 20,000 in Vietnam with their Phoenix Program. They were totally out of control. They needed to be reined in.

Vietnam and Iraq both, as well as the Soviet Afghanistan campaign, all show that when wars are dishonest, based on lies and merely imperialist shows of force, they are ultimately self-defeating.

Never again. Let's get out of Iraq and only fight real wars on terror from now on. In fact, Kerry was right. You can't fight a conventional war against terrorism anyway. Calling Iraq part of the war on terror is a hoax. It never was and never will be. If anything it made Islamic terrorists stronger despite the great sacrifice of our brave troops.
