Having read what people post on blogs, my perception is that the blue collar workers themselves think their wages will go up, and that they'll get back "their" jobs that were stolen. And I think Republican, especially Senate, foot-dragging on this issue tells you all you need to know about what employers think. The Senate didn't want to do anything until it looked like this was going to torpedo the 2006 elections. There are more employees than employers, and this is a democracy. I don't think you can actually vote yourself more jobs and higher wages, so I don't think it's going to work.
