I agree. However, if such a scenario comes about then a 30% devaluation in the dollar is wishful thinking. In fact, in such a situation the financial system as we know is not likely to survive.

When things get tough I would assume the govt would take over FNM and the like as a means to monetize stuff...they could re-write loans to keep people in their homes if the crap really hits the fan... of course their stocks would be worthless at that point. BUT they may actually make good on the debt I suppose.
