In good news the low volume in 4S systems and lack of Intel product won't give Dell much leverage to put pricing pressures on AMD.

Pricing pressure? What pressure? Did you miss the entire reality in which Dell PICKED AMD because they had no other option!! This is after dissing AMD tech as late as about a Q ago.

AMD is in the drivers seat. Doug can delude himself that "it's only multiprocessor" systems, but with Dell not that strong in 4S in the 1st place AND with the advent of a reasonable chip like Woodcrest arriving in quad core by Q107, why would Dell need AMD?

This is a long term pick. The competitive dynamics have changed in a way that very few people are picking up on.

Oh, I'm sure the leverage was already placed, in order for AMD to get the deal & PR win. Although Hector gave Dell 8xx Optis without any desktop or mobile wins, so maybe most of Dell's leverage was used there.
