Mere light sensitivity is not an eye.

It seems to me that you want to play with words more than concepts.

The light sensing that I have described is the most primitive I am aware of.
There are more complex light sensing.
There is a whole range of light sensing organs in various creatures and they all help that creature in one way or another.

I sense you want to define 'eye' to some subset so that you can claim that when a creature crosses that threshold the 'eye' appeared suddenly. That is only a word trick.
