Don't want to hear anyone bitching about high oil and gas prices if they voted for a congressman who voted for this:

"What the president has said all along is that he wants to make sure that people who become American citizens have a command of the English language," Snow said. "It's as simple as that."

That's all fine and good but what about the people who are from here that don't have a command of the English language?

Not that I'm against it, I'm for it. We do have kids going to school right now who can't speak English properly let alone understand it.

I took an English course a few years back. I was educated in South Louisiana. I don't think you should take the culture out of people but if you are in the United States, you should be taught to speak English properly. When the whole Ebonics thing came up years back I was shocked that anyone would even thing such a thing would be the right.

I still to this day don't have a command of the English language (if you couldn't tell that already <g>) One thing I intend to do is take another English course. The first one helped but I don't think near enough.<g>

My kids have never learned to speak Cajun not because I don't think they should know the language but because I think it's so very important to know English first. We are Americans. In America, we speak English.
