Doug:

50% of what? 50% of a few isn't all that much. And even if they do make more than a few, server customers will want to test it with their software and in their environment. They don't like FDIV or P3-1.13G fiascos. So they test and test, and then, test some more.

So the only way 50% of Q3 2S Xeon sales being Woodcrest is for there not to be many at all being sold in Q3. Ditto for 75% in Q4. It will be Q3 of 2007 before most server customers will validate Woodcrest for server use. The same happened for P2 Xeons from the original Pentium Xeon, the P2->P3 Xeon transition, P3->P4 and Athlon MP to Opteron. You should also remember that Blackford chipset needs testing as well. Dempsey wasn't good enough to go through all that testing, so Blackford also needs to be tested.

In short, if the percentages are correct in that reference, Intel is going to not sell many 2S server CPUs in H2 2006 and H1 2007.
