"I have always been in favor of gridlock."

This is what most people favor and why corrupt representatives are tolerated.

We can find all kinds of flaws and abuses on one side of the continuum of liberal to conservative, but we can't confront it in an effective manner as long we are protecting representatives on the other side who do similar things ... tolerance for corruption became the status quo some time back.

If I ask you to identify a noble representative, you are likely to refer to one of the founding fathers far more readily than a current representative.

Why is that? We have evolved the breadth and depth of our understanding of human liberty and justice far beyond what the founding fathers proposed. Why do we not have enlightened champions of liberty and justice who are honored and revered representing us today? ... Is it because we are lesser human beings? No, it is because there is tolerance for corruption as the status quo
