I think it was suggested that cheap immigrant labor be used to help rebuild New Orleans. Halliburton could save a lot of money (read bank a lot of profit) if they didn't have to hire American union workers. As for prison labor and chain gangs, I'm sure that Halliburton would love to be able to use them too. Question is, would these immigrants be streaming across the border if there were no jobs for them once they got here? Is it legal to hire illegal immigrants? Who is guilty of creating the demand for illegals? I'll tell you right now, if employers and CEO's had to serve time for hiring illegals...it would stop almost over night. And if there is such a huge demand for low skilled workers, then wouldn't it make sense to adjust immigration policy so that workers could pass through normal channels on their way to a job in America? That would certainly be preferable to having families dying of dehydration in the desert. Orca
