Can someone explain to me why every phone call needs to be logged by the government? I certainly understand the need to monitor communications between terrorists. That's a no brainer. And I certainly see the need to develop patterns of terrorist calls and to identify the netwok of calls and callers. We need to know about the web they weave. No doubt. But I fail to see why a log of every single call is needed. The potential for abuse of these phone records is obvious. Nixon used his power to spy on his political adversaries. What safegaurds are in place to prevent Cheney form ordering up the phone calls of Senator Kerry, or....? We need to maintain the checks and balances. Orca

The Republicans OTOH will take these hypocritical, regressive and immoral stands: 1. Take out Roe AND try and stamp out contraception...excuse me while I laugh. 2. Pit caucasian bigots, and the GOP is full of them, against the 'brown' people (take your pick) Arabs or Hispanics or (from Tony Snow White) 'tar babies.' 3. Try and change the Constitution in private by getting the Senate Committee into a room to have a resolution to stamp out gay marriage.....ROTFLMAO. Hey, doesn't that mean that: a.
