"What is your theory for why the announcement with a six month wait?"

When one looks at how long it has taken SUNW to get to their current lineup, after full commitment, a setup time of 6 months would seem reasonable...not to mention just in time for 65nm production and, perhaps K8L, from AMD to be building stride.

By the way, I don't think for a mooment that Dell will be delivering AMD servers without proving the option for AMD other products. Many corporations, if going server, will want to go desktop, workstation and laptop as well.

Also, I can't help thinking that with the smaller cache, that AMD's 65nm yields (and power consumption advantage) just might far surpass INTC's yields owing to INTC's cumbersome by comparison cache shrink problem.

I'm reading between the lines here, but I'm guessing that AMD's 65nm offerings will offer significant power conservation advantages over the competition (another hook for Dell in the non-server segments) underscoring Dirk's and Osha's optimism in achieving 30% share over the next while.
