well,
Hackett acting like a conservative failed. I remember ted saying Patty Murray wouldn't introduce legislation to get out because she knew it would lose. But the question I have though, if the polls are correct, seems to me like Murtha and others should have no problems acting like Reagan and take it to the American people. Just doesn't add up. Maybe they will this election, find someone without a past history of being for removing Saddam....

If I was a politician wanting to run antiwar, what's wrong with just saying those people over there have been fighting ever since the world began and it was foolish to think we could change that. Seems running a campaign of "we should get out of Iraq because the Bushies lied to us" isn't working. Or at least not working at the voting booth is you follow polls.

re: I believe John that Murtha has hung himself with his own rope and to continue his "airtime" is only hurting the democrats.

The politics of war are unusual. You can be a congressman and be anti-war, but it's the common political wisdom that you can't be a successful anti-war Presidential candidate. Eugene McCarthy, McGovern are examples. That's why you see the Dems twisting themselves into knots on the issue.

Its funny how Harris thinks Murtha has hung himself. The only hangings taking place at the present time are on the right side of the aisle. Hopefully, the GOP leadership is in as much denial as Mr. Harris.
