LOL! "Izvestia" means more or less "News", and Pravda means "truth" - and those, of course, were the names of the 2 main Soviet national newspapers -- so, the idea of this joke (which could easily land a person in trouble back in those days) is that there was no news in "pravda", and no "pravda" in the news... ;)

I thought it was "no news in Izvestia, no truth in Pravda.

It is no truth in Izvestia(news) and no news in Pravda(truth)

There is no news in Pravda, nor any truth in Izvestia.

Which should be something like,

I believe part of the joke was that Pravda was usually a single bi-fold page, hardly containing room for much of anything - including news, true or otherwise.

Izvestia had a smaller circulation and was usually able to requisition enough paper to print more pages.

I get all my truth from CNBC's Mad Money where I blindly investia on his advice. The reason for this is I can hear him without turning the sound up.

And if I need truth about general stuff I get it from CNN or FOX news. Who needs Proofda or whatever you calls it? If it isn't on my TV it can't possibly be true.
