The only Americans feeling any real pain right NOW are the soldiers, and most Americans have no connection with them. Bush doesn't want Americans to have any connection to the US troops in Iraq. He doesn't want the public to see those nasty coffins coming into Dover. He wants us out shopping, flying about the country and enjoying ourselves. ust as "the next President" will have to clean up this Iraq mess I wish that were possible but I fear it's too late. If we leave it will get worse so we stay hoping it won't get worse. Rummy has his metrics for progress: # of satellite dishes [not that Iraqis have anything remotely resembling reliable electricity] On the other hand, under Saddam, 4% of children were suffering from severe malnutrition.
