What would you be searching for, and why?

I have searched threads I used to post on to see what I thought earlier about a given subject or to do research on a subject that I remember having been discussed there. To do so I have to bookmark the thread.

In many cases you would do this so you could talk about the thread and the posters on it, daily (even while professing you aren't really interested in the thread or the people there). It's strange, but true.

Why would you want to search a thread you don't read, post to or agree with (whether or not you're banned)?

If you are banned, and strongly disagree with the main thrust of the thread and many of its users you might want to find posts and provide some form of reply to them. The reply could range from a simply slam to a well reasoned response. There might also be people who support opinions similar to your own on that thread, and you might like to search the thread for their posts, or just read the thread mainly to find their post. True you can have them peoplemarked but esp. if there are multiple people bookmarking the thread ( or doing both) might be a better fit

Whether or not you are banned you might want to be able to find parts of the history of conversations you used to have there, or you might want to find interesting information that was posted on the thread. If I was banned here or on Politics for Pros I might want to keep the thread book marked for that reason. I'm not banned from the FADG, and I don't have bookmarked or read it anymore, but I could possibly see myself bookmarking it to find old posts.

Then of course there is simple inertia. You used to have a thread bookmarked and you leave it that way.
