you...

Yep. Intel is betting the company on NGA. Conroe and Merom platforms look to be very solid if Intel can deliver the volumes. The FB-DIMM-only policy for Woodcrest seems risky in my opinion.

me...

No doubt INTC is going to be more competitive than previously. The question for me and every other AMD/INTC investor is how does that translate in terms of sales and things like gross margins? So many data points, it's really hard trying to assign each of them the appropriate value. Well if investing was easy everyone would be rich.

Still, there are other factors outside of AMD/INTC. Despite the economies generally sanguine current condition I see possible storm clouds on the horizon and I don't like the way the market tends to shoot first and think later.

Hopefully, over the next month, or sooner, we'll get better information to make decisions on. I'm still waiting on some head to head reviews from independent sources before I make any desisions. There's always some risk in waiting for better information, but in this case things seem to much up in the air to do otherwise.

"The FB-DIMM-only policy for Woodcrest seems risky in my opinion." I haven't heard any discussion of the merits of this memory decision. Anyone have a handle on this?
