I don't care what he wants. What he says is wrong (and demonstrably so) - and for that reason I'm not happy with it being treated as if it meant something.

Yes I would take the piece not as saying that all liberals who "knows that America's enemies need to be fought", and liberals who don't, or who the author thinks do not. He calls the later group moonbats.

He's making a distinction similar to the older one between the "cold war liberals" and the "pacifist left".

If its a slam at the left its only a slam on the "pacifist left", and apparently not on all liberals who disagree with Iraq, but only those who are against Iraq because they think no strong military effort should be made against any enemy, not those who are against Iraq because of some particular circumstance of Iraq or Bush's handling of the situation.

I suppose if your looking for a slam against the left it general you could find it if you think that the story implies that much of the left is pacifist and you share the author's opinion of this group; or if you agree with the pacifist left and think that much of the left is pacifist, and so you apply the author's use of the term moonbat, to mean that the majority of the left is moonbat. Moonbat, obviously isn't a complimentary term.

OTOH if your looking for ways to see something as a slam you can probably find them.
