Policosanol if you use the right kind, from sugar cane is very effective. It takes 12 weeks to kick in. It has to have a predominance of octasonal and low tocasonol to duplicate the Cuban research theoretically. The kind from Natural factors, Organika, and AOR may be OK.

The processes are unkown, so we are not saying there is a known effect to staying away from the vasoactonal profile, merely that to duplicate what the research the alcohols may need to be the same.

Alcohol also reduced cholesterol, so one glass of red wine per day may be in some people helpful. Red Wine has resveratrol too which is anti-oxidant and helpful to tame cholesterol peroxidation.
