Sociology and psychology suffer from internecine splits between those take an approach attempting to replicate the quantitative hard science approach used in the physical sciences, vs. those who take a more interpretive qualitative approach. I believe that each set of approaches can have utility based on the nature of the situation you are investigating and the particular questions you are trying to answer. As a result, neither side liked me, but I had more tools in my arsenal, and hence more questions I could investigate, than either of them. LC
