I don't think that would mean producing earlier revisions. IIRC, Strain engineering was orginally only used to build the FX line, so AMD must have the necessary masks to build both strained and non strained versions of the CPU's. AMD claimed that introducing strain had no impact on yields, but how literally do we have to read this? It can mean e.g. less than 5% difference in yields, but this can be a limiting factor for production if you're severely capacity constrained.
