SAN FRANCISCO, May 22 (Reuters) - Chip equipment maker Novellus Systems Inc. (NVLS.O: Quote, Profile, Research) Chief Financial Officer William Kurtz on Monday forecast second-quarter revenue at $375 million with gross margin at 48 percent as the company looks to outpace the rest of the market in part by focusing on growth in Asia.

He also told a JPMorgan investment conference that the company would use extra cash to buy back stock, and said he believes the company has no exposure to a probe into the back-dating of stock options.

NVLS now trading at 2X annualized sales.....if that's not a trough valuation I don't know what is. I guess we could always chop that in half to get a real trough valuation, but first I would want to see GOOG, EBAY etc also get chopped.
