I didn't find the movie long and tedious at all. There wasn't much in the way of background explication, they did that on the fly.

My only complaint was that sitting on the back row I couldn't hear or see as well as I would have liked, my preference is for the center of the theater.

And I put too much butter on my popcorn! (Cinema Arts lets you put the butter on yourself.) ;^)

I thought it was well paced and entertaining.

Tom Hank's long hair worked for the character. The girl wasn't quite the thing, though, I imagined Juliette Binoche (who is probably too old.)
