If the United States of America truly subordinated the State to the individual (as it is supposed to under the Constitution and Bill of Rights), then:

Gay marriage would exist;
There would be no debate about abortion;
Marijuana, heroin, etc. would have remained legal as they were for about 130+ years;
The federal government would be about 1% of the size it is now.

But we do not have a free society based upon individuaL liberty anymore. Somewhere in the 20th Century we lost it. Instead, we have politicians and the media mouthing platitudes and wrapping themselves in the illusion of freedom and liberty.

Yes, we have now a Statist, oppressive, socialist government.
