All that intel was very old, 10 years old or so. The fresh intel the CIA brought to the White House 6 months before the invasion said there were no WMD in Iraq except for maybe a few old mustard gas shells. That came straight from one of Saddam's top generals.

According to the ex CIA officer who was on that case, the White House basically told them to shut up, they didn't want to see such intel. And the White House never showed that to congress. Instead the CIA was told "this isn't about WMD it's about regime change", in other words the fix was in and they were invading no matter what. So everything else was just pure BS.
