That's just false. Reagan was far more conservative than even Joe Lieberman.

GW Bush is in many respects copying Reagan's policies. He's just more inept and more dishonest, and is copying the worst parts of Ronnie's legacy, like Iran-Contra and the S+L debacle. Part of this has to do with GW Bush's own personal weakness. With Rove, Cheney and other handlers, GW would be helpless.

Never forget, 9-11 did happen. It's not as if we can all go back to being lethargic about terrorism. Of course GW and company are exploiting that and making terrorism threats worse in some ways, but that doesn't change the fact that Americans do want security to be paid close attention too. That's why IMHO Kerry is the best of both worlds. Some call it sitting on the fence. I call it being both strong on defense and strong on civil liberties, diplomacy and peace-making.
