The public should be outraged, not Jefferson... The chief executive of IGate Inc. pleaded guilty earlier this month to paying Mr. Jefferson more than $400,000 in bribes. The purported bribes were in exchange for the congressman's lobbying Nigerian government officials on behalf of the Louisville, Ky.-based technology firm, which wanted to operate a broadband network in Africa. Mr. Jefferson's former aide, Brett Pfeffer, in January pleaded guilty to helping bribe a public official. The scandal is one of several tainting Congress, with members from both parties implicated in bribery schemes or under investigation for ties to dirty lobbyists.
