I can't think of too many other contexts where I've heard or read it

I actually managed to use the word last week while dining with a friend. He looked at me like I was nuts. <g>

I cannot for the life of me recall the context in which I was able to use it and I may never again be able to find one. But I still think it's a cool word. My brain works top down so subsidiarity is near and dear to my heart.
