<Why should we imagine evolution has a purpose?>

Or, why should we imagine it doesn't? Why should we imagine the opposable thumb is less useful than awareness??? The point is a scientist has come to that conclusion based on his studies... just interesting, as the idea came up. Not saying he's right, you'll have to get the book to see his support for the point, at least he has some. :)

<No, you can't deny your awareness, just as you can't deny having toes on your feet or a navel.>

Then why imagine it's 'overrated'???

Awareness is so intereting, isn't it! -ggg-

These people have a purpose. They truly believe that self awareness (or being human) has been and must be very bad for the planet and the species whom inhabit it.

The Voluntary Human Extinction Movement

"Perhaps by considering our own extinction, we will more fully appreciate what the extinction of other species means. Big thicket hog-nosed skunks and rabbit-eared tree rats may be difficult for us to identify with, but then, so are some people's in-laws"
