OT: The "Quality" setting determines the compression. Compression determines how much information -- pixel to pixel or image dot to image dot -- is deemed of "very similar color" and can therefore be displayed as "same color". The lesser the "Quality," the more pixels are designated as the "same," the smaller the file size.
