Emotionally gratifying temporization.

If I were still an eager grad student, this whole charade would make a fascinating paper for a Poli Sci or Sociology course, taking apart the different views and analyzing the emotional agendas behind them. Then put that all in a framework comparing the rhetoric to actual efforts to achieve a final bill.

But I am neither eager nor a student, and I share your cynicism about the result.

Explain how deciding this issue on the economics of the situation is emotional gratification. I don't see it. Unless you want to define everything as emotional gratification- in which case the term becomes meaningless. Is that what you mean?

Clearly some people find logic gratifying and some people don't- if you put it that way then everyone's decision about anything is emotional gratification.
