Democrats are tougher on Homeland Security and counter-terrorism than Bush is and just as tough on illegal immigration as Bush is. In other words, not tough enough.

The far right wants to get draconian with illegal immigration, but that's next to impossible to achieve, and the backlash would destroy the GOP. That's why we have this so-so compromise with Kennedy and Bush taking the same side.
